Looking Towards 2011

Wow...I've neglected the blog this year! There's so much that's gone on in the last 12 months, that I've really focused primarily on the Facebook page for the studio. Please feel free to fan the studio page! There's always something going on there! http://www.facebook.com/emotionportraitdesign

For 2011 there are a few things that I'm looking forward to, and a lot more changes coming for the studio. I will be rearranging a lot of items in the back end of operations to expedite orders, and workflow, as well as working on some of the shooting processes which will be significantly more visible to all of you.

To those who are wondering. Yes, I have closed the Mountain Home storefront. I still have studio space that I use in Boise, and I am still providing outdoor sessions in some truly amazing locations that you won't get with other photographers. We will be offering studio sessions in Mtn Home 1 or 2 days a month. As soon as our location is secured, I will be adding more information about that.

The reason for this big change is that I need to focus on my health, as well as my daughter and her schooling. We took on the home school challenge this year, and while we both love it, there is a lot commitment on both parts.

Suffice it to say, YES! I am still here, and YES! I am still photographing sessions, albeit not as many, so if you want portraits I suggest that you not wait until the last moment to book sessions, as I am limiting how many sessions per month are available. Please feel free to call me with questions, or just to visit!

Wow....time flies when you're having fun right?!

Just to update everyone on what's going on with EPD.

There's a new associate on board at the studio. Her name is Erica Rowe. She's an Idaho girl, and a great photographer. Stop on by the studio, say hi, and get to know her. She's a gem, and I'm happy to have her on board!

We've been super busy at the studio, and its been amazing. Thank you to all of you who have come in and said hi, and for those of you coming in soon, we can't wait to see you.

The 2010 Top Ten Spokesmodel contest is going on right now. We have an iPod touch up for grabs, as well as a laptop right before graduation. Hit us up for more info!

I found out about earing a merit print on my birthday, but I have been waiting to receive the official word from WPPI to announce it to everyone.

I can't even begin to describe how honored, excited, and even more driven this makes me! Thank you so much to Kelli Kukitz, who was brave enough to get into the water with her prom dress on a cool October day so I could capture this.

A very HUGE thank you to all of my clients, past, present, and even future for walking this road with me! I certainly hope there are more great things like this down the road!

The Bold Tigers from MHAFB came home tonight, and there are more airmen due in over this week. I spent the afternoon with two of my Op Love families, and will be spending the rest of this week with a few more, plus some next week. It sure will be great to get everyone home!!

Wow, i've been a very remiss blog owner! Sorry about that guys! The past month or so has been NUTS!

Spring Rainbows

I love spring. Rainstorms, rainbows, farmers opening the fields up. Tonight on my way home from shooting a very special graduation ceremony, I saw this full rainbow that was just begging to be shot.

For a quick update on the studio...we are presently putting the finish on the floors, they are GORGEOUS, and we are on target for the Grand Opening on June 1.

I will be planning an open house, more to come on that! I can't wait to get settled in in the studio, and share it with all of you!

Help Wanted!!!

Have you been needing to get your pictures taken? Are you a ninja with a paintbrush?

In order to meet my grand opening for the studio, I need a painting ninja who is willing to work for a portrait session, and pictures. I will pay the equivilant of $10.00 an hour in a portrait session and prints for one or two people willing to come and help paint. Experience prepping, and painting walls is a requirement!

There will be wall prep, primer, finish coat, and possibly floor staining to be done. Whoever is interested could be walking away with a significant amount of images.

Soccer!!!

Ok, I have a confession to make. I love soccer. My daugher is an avid player, and I love doing soccer pictures for teams! It is fun to see all of the players spit shined, and sporting their winning smiles and their game faces. I also enjoy asking them to get goofy for me, and show me their silly side. Back from Tradeshow, and all I can say is WOW!

Hi everyone! I just got back from the tradeshow where I got to hang out with new and old friends, see the work of other photographers, and attend approximately 14 classes. My head is spinning from all of the information, and ideas I have in my brain.

WPPI Tradeshow 2008...

A few times a year, I get the opportunity spend a few days with other highly talented photographers. Together we attend seminars and tradeshows. We return to our studios with new, fresh, and fun items for our amazing clients to enjoy. Along with new products, I will bring back a fresh perspective for your images!

Big Breath in....Then Exhale

Whew! I think I finally made the finish line!

I have a new number for the studio, it is 208-587-0404. Please feel free to call and say hi, and to schedule a session!

In the past week, I've won a photography contest, a door prize, met with clients, and gotten to know new people here in Mountain Home. We have some truly great people here!

The next few days will be used to set up what is called the "command center" which is where I edit images, and spend most of my time when I am not shooting clients. :) I get to play techno geek and set up my new computer, and install new editing software that will allow me to provide all of you cooler images! Can you tell I'm excited? lol

Watch for an awesome special coming up for mothers to be on the pea pod maternity sessions! There will be a big announcement on about Wednesday.

Anyway, I hope everyone has survived the exercise in one piece and is happy to have their loved ones back to a state of normalacy.

Oh So Sweet!

As a photographer, I accept challenges that I give myself, that friends give me, or that are presented as a contest. I recently entered a contest with this image. It was an image that required me to approach a total stranger, and ask to shoot them. This generally is no problem for me, because I am not afraid to approach people and give them a business card. However, there was a hitch to this this time, I had to shoot this person in a manner that is not normal for me. In the past, I haven't shot boudoir/sexy type images, so I had to step out of my comfort zone or "box" and do it.

Anyway, that's enough rambling. I owe Coreen a HUGE thank you for trusting me, and allowing me to play, and trusting my vision.

I will also be entering this image in an upcoming WPPI 8 x 10 print competition
